Estivation is when animals are dormant because weather conditions are very hot and dry.
Their breathing rate, heart rate and metabolic rate decrease to conserve energy under these harsh conditions.
Humans estivate during the winter months as well as some of these animals.

2. the desert tortoise
3. the African lungfish
4. Snails
5. crocodiles
During estivation, snails prevent excessive dehydration and reorganize metabolic fuel use so as to endure prolonged periods without food.
