Dadasaheb Phalke Award Winners 2024

The 70th Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards took place in Mumbai on February 20, 2024, honoring 40 Indian film, television, and OTT artists. The event, established in 1969, honored the late Dadasaheb Phalke, known as the "father of Indian cinema." The 70th edition of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards was held on February 20, 2024 in Mumbai. About Dadasaheb Phalke Award 

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is the pinnacle accolade in the Indian film industry, given to people in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the expansion and advancement of Indian cinema. The award, which was established by the Indian government in 1969, honors the late Dadasaheb Phalke, who is frequently referred to as the "father of Indian cinema." Among his ground-breaking accomplishments was directing "Raja Harishchandra," India's first full-length feature film, in 1913.

Television and OTT Awards Categories

In the television segment, popular soap opera 'Ghum Hai Kisskey Pyaar Meiin' topped its category, with lead stars Neil Bhatt and Ayesha Singh winning Best Actor and Actress honors. Evergreen star Rupali Ganguly was adjudged Best Actress for long-running hit daily soap ‘Anupamaa’. Critically acclaimed shows ‘Punyashlok Ahilyabai’ and ‘The Great Indian Murder’ won big in supporting categories.

Meanwhile on OTT, crime thrillerFarzi’ emerged the biggest success story with leading man Shahid Kapoor clinching Best Actor for his portrayal of a cunning con artist. Co-star Vijay Sethupathi also won the Best Supporting Actor award. But ‘Farzi’s biggest win came in the Best Web Series category solidifying its status as one of the top shows of 2024.

Sushmita Sen won Best Actress honors for the third installment of her hit web series ‘Aarya’. Meanwhile, Aditya Roy Kapur and Karishma Tanna bagged acting honors in the critics category for their stellar turns in ‘The Night Manager’ adaptation and investigative drama ‘Scoop’ respectively. The Indian Railways-inspired ‘The Railway Men’ won plaudits as Best Web Series (Critics) for bringing a heroic real-life tale to screens.
