Four apps for new criminal laws are unveiled by Amit Shah

Home Minister Amit Shah launched four new apps for The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) new criminal laws introduced nationwide on July 1, 2024.

  • Three new laws replace colonial-era legislation: Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA)

  • Mandatory forensic investigation for crimes with sentences of 7 years or more
  • Aim to complete cases, including Supreme Court judgments, within 3 years
  • Establishment of Forensic Science Universities to produce 36,000 experts annually
  • Introduction of Directors of Prosecution to monitor the prosecution process
  • Integration of technology to enhance efficiency and transparency
  • Citizen-centric approach to align with constitutional principles

  • Chandigarh set to become the first administrative unit with 100% implementation
