India-US Bilateral Exercise "Ex Tiger Triumph - 24"

India and the US held a bilateral HADR Amphibious Exercise, 'Tiger Triumph', on INS Jalashwa. The exercise aims to share best practices and standard operating procedures for multinational operations.

The Opening Ceremony of the Bilateral Tri-Service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Amphibious Exercise between India and the United States, 'Tiger Triumph', was held onboard INS Jalashwa today, 19 March 2024. The Exercise represents the robust strategic partnership between both countries and aims to share best practices and Standard Operating Procedures in undertaking multinational HADR operations.

Exercise Phases:

  1. Harbour Phase (18 - 25 March 2024, Visakhapatnam):
    • Pre-sail discussions
    • Subject Matter Expert Exchange on professional subjects
    • Deliberations on planning and execution procedures of various tasks
    • Sports engagements to enhance camaraderie
  2. Sea Phase (26 - 31 March 2024):
    • Establishment of a joint Command and Control Centre
    • Setting up a Joint Relief and Medical Camp
    • Concurrent Planning and Coordination Exercise to refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for rapid and smooth coordination

Participating Forces:

Indian Navy:

  • Landing Platform Dock
  • Landing Ship Tanks (Large) with integral Landing Crafts and helicopters
  • Guided Missile Frigate
  • Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft

Indian Army:

  • One infantry battalion group including mechanised forces

Indian Air Force:

  • Medium lift aircraft
  • Transport helicopters
  • Rapid Action Medical Team (RAMT)

Special Ops Forces from all three services

US Task Force:

  • US Navy Landing Platform Dock with integral Landing Craft Air Cushions and helicopters
  • Destroyer
  • Maritime reconnaissance and medium lift aircraft
  • US Marines

Exercise Objectives:

  • Share best practices and Standard Operating Procedures in undertaking multinational HADR operations
  • Enhance interoperability and coordination between the armed forces of India and the US
  • Refine Standard Operating Procedures for rapid and smooth coordination during HADR operations
