The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced its decision to host the FIH Hockey Men's Junior World Cup with 24 teams, aiming to promote inclusivity and broaden the reach of hockey.

This move aligns with FIH's Empowerment and Engagement strategy, which aims to provide more opportunities for a diverse range of National Associations to participate and showcase their talent on the global stage.

FIH President Tayyab Ikram lauded the decision, stating that "giving more opportunities to play to a larger and more diverse number of National Associations is one of the key pillars of our Empowerment and Engagement strategy." He further emphasized the added value that diversity brings to FIH events, as witnessed during the recent FIH Hockey5s World Cup in Oman.

As the host nation for the 2025 FIH Hockey Men's Junior World Cup, India has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to fostering the growth of hockey, particularly at the grassroots level. The nation has successfully organized the event on two subsequent occasions, in Lucknow (2016) and Bhubaneswar (2021), highlighting its expertise and experience in hosting major hockey tournaments.

Moreover, India has a proud record of triumphs in the Junior World Cup, having won the coveted title twice – in Australia in 2001 and on home soil in 2016.
