Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit in Paris on February 10-11, 2025. Hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, the summit aims to promote international collaboration on AI, bringing together global leaders to discuss innovation, regulation, and the future of AI technologies.

Summit Overview

The AI Action Summit will gather a diverse group of participants, including heads of state, leaders of international organizations, CEOs from companies of all sizes, academics, NGOs, artists, and civil society representatives. Discussions will center around five key themes:

  • AI for Public Interest
  • The Future of Work
  • Innovation and Culture
  • Trust in AI
  • Global AI Governance

Addressing misinformation and the ethical misuse of AI will be central to the agenda. The event will kick off on February 10 with sessions involving various stakeholders, followed by a formal dinner hosted by President Macron for heads of state and other dignitaries. On February 11, a special leaders’ session will be held exclusively for heads of state.

India’s Role and Importance

France has highlighted India as a “key player” in leveraging AI to create tangible benefits for people. The French Presidency remarked, “India has been invited, and we are working closely with them in the lead-up to the summit. Tackling misinformation and the misuse of AI will be key discussion points.” This invitation reflects the growing AI partnership between India and France, building on similar collaborations with other nations.

Global AI Collaboration

President Macron stressed the necessity of a global dialogue on AI, involving major players like the US, China, India, and Gulf countries, which are instrumental in shaping AI development and regulation. “This summit will foster an international conversation on AI… as we aim to engage with all major powers on this critical issue,” he stated. The summit seeks to position France and Europe as pivotal hubs for AI innovation and talent development while fostering international cooperation on AI governance.
