Uttar Pradesh Govt. to Launch Innovative Bioplastic Park

Project Overview and Location

• U.P government plans setting of a bioplastic park in Lakhimpur Kheri
• Sited in Kumbhi village of Gola Gokarnnath tehsil
• Occupies a total area of thousand hectares of land
• Approximate outlay likely to be Rs 2 billion (₹ 2000 crore).
• Balrampur Chini Mill would set up the park
• There is a proposal for the development of UPEIDA as the nodal agency.

The present government headed by Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh has declared the development of a bioplastic park to fight pollution of petroleum based plastics. This strategic plan specifically targets this area since it seeks to capitalize on agricultural specialties and provide more eco-friendly replacements to plastics.

Understanding Bioplastics

• Manufactured from renewable materials such as sun flowers, corns, and soker beet.
