AIM-ICDK Water Challenge 4.0: Tackling Water Challenges

The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has launched the 'AIM – ICDK Water Challenge 4.0' in collaboration with the Innovation Centre Denmark. The initiative aims to address water-related challenges through innovative solutions

The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), under NITI Aayog, has launched the 'AIM – ICDK Water Challenge 4.0' in collaboration with the Innovation Centre Denmark (ICDK) at the Royal Danish Embassy in India. This initiative aims to address critical water-related challenges through innovative solutions. The challenge is part of the Indo-Danish bilateral green strategic partnership, which emphasizes fostering sustainability and innovation.

The selected teams from India will participate in the global Next Generation Digital Action program, engaging with young talents from leading universities and innovation hubs in nine countries, including Denmark, Ghana, Kenya, Korea, Tanzania, South Africa, Ghana, Colombia, and Mexico. The program focuses on sustainability, digital solutions, inclusion, and universal design principles.

Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their innovations at the Digital Tech Summit in Copenhagen from October 30th to 31st, 2024, funded by the Government of Denmark. The challenge invites entries under two tracks: one for students and another for young entrepreneurs, early-stage startups, researchers, and innovators under the age of 35 committed to driving positive environmental change.

'Innovations for You' Handbook: Spotlighting SDG Entrepreneurs

In addition to the water challenge, AIM has introduced the fifth edition of 'Innovations for You,' a coffee table book series that spotlights the endeavors of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) entrepreneurs in India. This edition features 60 entrepreneurs from diverse corners of the country, each contributing to societal betterment through sustainable innovations.

These startups focus on recyclable and renewable materials, green energy, inclusive education, and advocacy for underrepresented communities and local artisans. The handbook aims to showcase the innovative spirit and commitment of Indian entrepreneurs in addressing various SDGs.

Fostering Innovation and Sustainability

The launch of these initiatives underscores AIM's commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability in India. By providing platforms for young innovators, students, and entrepreneurs to showcase their solutions and collaborate with global talents, AIM aims to drive positive environmental change and address pressing challenges.

Mission Director AIM, NITI Aayog, Dr. Chintan Vaishnav, expressed excitement about the initiatives, stating, "We are thrilled to announce the launch of AIM – ICDK Water Challenge 4.0 and the fifth edition of Innovations For You – SDG Entrepreneurs of India. These initiatives epitomize our relentless pursuit of innovation and sustainability, propelling India towards a brighter, more resilient future."

The call for applications for the AIM – ICDK Water Challenge 4.0 commenced on June 10th, 2024, with a deadline of June 20th, 2024.

Through these initiatives, AIM aims to empower young minds and entrepreneurs to contribute to the nation's sustainable development goals while fostering international collaborations and knowledge exchange.
