Women's Entrepreneurship Day November 19, 2023: History & significance

Women's Entrepreneurship Day (WED) is an international initiative that honors and provides support to women who are business owners. The Women's Entrepreneurship Development Organization (WEDO), an NGO, created Women's Entrepreneurship Day with the goal of reducing global poverty. The United Nations recognised November 19 as Women’s Entrepreneurship Day in appreciation of the organisation’s committed efforts.

The first Women Entrepreneurship Day was observed in New York City in 2014 and the majority of UN member nations supported it. The Pioneer Award, established by WEDO, was also given out to commemorate Women's Entrepreneurship Day.
