The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) is the constitutional body responsible for conducting recruitment to various civil service and departmental posts under the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Originally established in 1956, and restructured after the bifurcation of the state in 2014, APPSC plays a central role in ensuring a transparent, efficient, and merit-based selection of officers across the state’s administrative system.

The APPSC Group 1 Examination is one of the most competitive and prestigious exams in the state. It is conducted to recruit candidates for high-ranking Group A and Group B administrative roles within Andhra Pradesh.
This examination evaluates not only academic knowledge but also a candidate’s analytical thinking, ethical understanding, administrative aptitude, and awareness of regional and national issues.
The exam consists of 3 important phases
- Preliminary Exam (Objective Type - Screening Test)
- Mains Exam (Conventional Type, i.e. Written examination)
- Personality Test
